Inspiring stakeholders to take action: Leveraging storytelling and empathy to drive results

Doing a research project is an emotional rollercoaster. We want to end on a high note with the rush of inspiration from fresh thinking and discoveries whisking the team off to new work streams and better marketing. Sometimes it ends with a thud. The beautiful PPT is shared and instead of head nods and action being planned, the group has collectively “nodded off”. The resulting inertia can be harder to overcome than pushing a boulder uphill.

It doesn’t have to be that way. You can inspire teams even if all you’ve found is the affirming instead of the surprising. The secret is in the storytelling and the use of empathy to clearly communicate. It’s not just about pretty pictures and quotes, although those certainly help. Understanding your audience and the tools at your disposal to engage them are key. This presentation from Ignite 360 CEO and Empathy Activist, Rob Volpe will share practical tips and tricks around storytelling and the use of empathy to get heads nodding yes instead of nodding off. See you there!

Key takeaways:

  1. How to leverage empathy as an insights professional beyond having empathy with the respondent but the stakeholder as well and bridge the empathetic connection from stakeholder directly to the consumer/customer.
  2. How to assess your audience and adjust your presentation accordingly.
  3. The storytelling tips and tricks that will help keep your audience engaged and inspired.
