Green power to the people!

Environmental issues and climate change are hot topics these days. Many of us, not just the scientists, environmental/climate activists, or some politicians, are trying to figure out what we can do to address these issues. Achieving a consumption as sustainable as possible is an obvious way for everyone to play their part in this fight.

Myriad companies are trying to capitalize on this trend. Wherever you look, you bump into “environmentally friendly,” “natural,” “biodegradable,” “climate neutral,” “eco,” “responsible” – you name it – products and brands.

The environmental impact goes way beyond products’ useful life. The vast amount of waste we generate is also crucial. Recycling helps, to some degree, but product durability and repairability are game-changers, especially for long-lasting items like electronics or appliances. Some brands are riding this wave and are boasting about their “durable,” “built to last” or “easy to repair” products.

Key takeaways:

  1. Do the environmental or climate-friendly claims about various products actually matter to regular people?
  2. Are all these brands and products the heroes they seem to be?
  3. What if changes are looming in the not-so-distant future?
